Woman heavily ridiculed online for adopting her husband’s ex-wife’s baby.

Christie and Wesley Werts are a devoted husband and wife team who dated for five years before getting married and starting a blended family.

Christie, her daughter Megan, and Wesley’s kids, Austin and Dakota, made up a beautiful family.

However, they had no idea that their love story would take a surprising turn or that, through adoption, they would meet the incredible baby Levi.

Throughout Levi’s adoption procedure, the couple’s perseverance and determination were apparent. The Werts family was eager to finally bring their newborn home after sixteen months of waiting for the adoption process to conclude.

But Christie and her family’s adoption story takes a heartwarming turn that makes Levi’s adoption seem like a dream come true. August 2021 saw the birth of Levi in Texas, and during her pregnancy, his biological mother—a former love partner of Wesley’s—struggled with drug abuse. Sadly, Newsweek reports that she passed just four days following Levi’s premature 33-week delivery as a result of addiction and coronavirus complications.

After Wesley’s sister revealed the terrible news regarding his ex-wife, the two became aware of Levi. Christie had been in foster care herself, so she was determined to give Levi a safe and loving home.

Even more startling, Christie experienced nightmares about a blonde child with blue eyes for three months prior to meeting Levi. Her decision to adopt Levi after discovering of his existence was greatly influenced by this dream.

Through Child Protection Services, the Werts family traveled from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi, and their first meeting was all Christie could have dreamed of. “I fell in love with this blond baby with blue eyes the moment I walked in.” It had a strange appearance. That was her son, the mother continued.

While adopting a child—especially a newborn—can be difficult at times, the Werts family faced more difficulties. They had to go through a legal process that included the termination of Levi’s parental rights after they sold their Ohio house and relocated to Texas so that Levi’s biological father could attend court.

Levi’s adoption was approved after sixteen months of court hearings, home visits, and interviews, allowing the parents to eventually reconnect with their young son.

Despite the pleasant ending to the story, several online users took issue with Christie for revealing it to the public.

“It’s going to cause him a lot of depression and more when he grows up, poor baby,” a witness remarked.

“Is this one of the things you choose not to share on social media?” stated an additional individual.

Others conveyed their joy and bestowed well wishes upon the newlyweds and their families.
